Strange Dreams

Last night I dreamed something unusual. I dreamed of a small backwater town that had made a pledge with a demon to gain prosperity. their price was that every now and again the town had to sacrifice one of their own to appease the demon. This they would do by choosing an adult that seemed like a dead beat or a child that was disobedient to his parents.

The person in question was marked by giving them a coin they carried with them, a token for luck or something else the citizens that knew of the curse would inform them. Then the demon would lure that person out of their home and something (always unseen) would take hold of them and drag them beneath their house, never to be seen again. Under all of the houses there was a grate or pipe coming out that leaked noxious fumes, though there was no extensive sewage system. The town kept a record of all who had been sacrificed to the demon in a scrapbook filled with newspaper clippings from missing person articles.

A private investigator happened to come into the town seeking a missing person and met an old ratchety man who had an inkling as to what was going on in the town. together they had two experiences: they tracked the owner of the odd coin down as the man was standing on his porch, refusing to be enticed off of it by the demon. So it tore the porch apart and dragged him away, out of sight beneath the house. Second, they were accosted by the apparitions of every person who had been killed by this demon, warning them to leave before they shared the same fate.

I wish I could tell you how it ended, but I didn't dream its ending out. Yes; I do in fact dream in that much detail, sometimes much more so. I haven't been a horror movie fan for a good count of years, so it still surprises me when I have dreams like this. Has anyone had warped dreams like this one? If so, feel free to share them; I for one would like to hear what you might have to say.
